Who needs hot chocolate?

After coming in from playing in the snow, the girls asked if they could have hot chocolate. I said "Sure! I am out of marshmallows so you will have to have marshmallow fluff instead". I could see the wheels moving in Emma's head. She blurted out "Could we just have the fluff?".

You are only a kid once I thought. So, here they sit (they wore their jammies under their snowsuits) on the kitchen table eating huge spoonfuls of marshmallow fluff.

Grace made this picture at school. I thought it was pretty cool for 5 year old art.

Favorite thing to do in summer

I asked them to draw a picture of their favorite thing about summer. Grace drew a picture of her getting into the hot tub. Emma drew one of her laying on a towel next to the pool.

Winter Funk

This weekend Grace was in a funk. Not her usual funk. She was in a winter funk. She asked me if she could please see her summer clothes. I ignored her a few times before I finally caved. I started to feel sorry for her. She and her sister are children who love to be barefoot and in the sunshine. It is a struggle to get socks on their feet and clothes on their little bodies.

As I headed up to their room they followed behind me bouncing around with excitement. I brought down the container with their summer clothes. Before I could get the lid all the way off, two little hands reached in and pulled out new swimsuits with tags still on. Their eyes wide with excitement. "Can we try them on Mommy?". For heavens sake. I am not sure they are going to fit so I say "no". I can't take that disappointment too!

They started swimming lessons at a new place in December and are doing really well. I think this has added to their anticipation for summer. Grace is determined to go off the diving board. I hope so. We spent a lot of time standing in line last summer.

Yesterday we put on our old swimsuits and got in the hot tub anyway. The snow was coming down fast and furious. The girls had a great time eating icicles and showing off their new strokes. Today we have 10 inches of snow and never ending winter colds. Summer seems so far away.
